 Soft Time

"When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law."
(Galatians 4:4)

After studying the behavior of thousands of cell-phone users, James Katz, a professor of communication at Rutgers University, has concluded that the cell phone has changed the nature of the way we think of time. Researchers now speak of the US as living in "soft time." This term has been coined to describe the thinking of a cell-phone user who calls at 8:20 to say he will be late for the 8:30 meeting, arrives at 8:45, and considers himself on time because he called ahead.

Unlike us, God is always on time. While we may struggle to understand why He doesn't act in world events or in our personal lives as speedily as we think He should, the Bible proclaims the punctuality of the Almighty according to His plan. Galatians 4:4-5 says, "When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons."
And Romans 5:6, "When we were still without strength, in due time [at just the right time] Christ died for the ungodly."

We can trust this same wise and loving God, who has never been late in His eternal plan, to be right on time in every detail of our lives. -David McCasland

"때가 차매 하나님이 그 아들을 보내사 여자에게서 나게 하시고 율법 아래 나게 하신 것은" (갈라디아서 4:4)

● 말씀을 생각하며 ●
럿거스 대학의 커뮤니케이션학과 교수인 제임스 켓츠는 수천 명의 휴대전화 사용자들의 행동을 연구한 후, 휴대전화가 시간에 대한 우리의 사고방식을 바꾸어 놓았다고 결론을 내렸습니다.
연구자들은 현재 미국은 "희박한 시간관념" 안에 살고 있다고 말합니다.
이 용어는 휴대전화 사용자들의 사고방식을 설명하기 위해 만들어진 것인데,
이를테면 휴대전화 사용자들은 8시 20분쯤에 8시 30분 회의에 늦을 것 같다고 전화한 뒤, 8시 45분에 도착하고는 미리 전화를 했으니 늦은 것으로 여기지 않는다는 것입니다.

그러나 우리와 달리 하나님은 언제나 시간을 정확히 지키십니다. 우리는 때때로 하나님께서 세계적인 대 사건들이나 우리의 개인적인 삶 가운데 왜 신속히 역사해 주시지 않는지 납득하지 못합니다 그러나 성경은 전능자이신 하나님께서 당신의 계획에 따라 정확히 역사하신다고 선언하고 있습니다.
갈라디아서 4:4-5은 "때가 차매 하나님이 그 아들을 보내사 여자에게서 나게 하시고 율법 아래 나게 하신 것은 율법 아래 있는 자들을 속량하시고 우리로 아들의 명분을 얻게 하려 하심이라"고 하였습니다.
로마서 5:6에서는 "우리가 아직 연약할 때에 기약대로 '정확한 시간에' 그리스도께서 경건치 않은 자를 위하여 죽으셨도다"라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

그의 영구한 계획을 이루시는 데에 결코 지체하지 않으셨던, 동일하신 지혜와 사랑의 하나님이 우리의 삶의 미세한 곳곳에 제 때에 역사하시리라는 것을 우리는 신뢰할 수 있습니다.

인간의 지식이 미치지 않는 곳에 있습니다.
하루하루 짧은 시간의 행렬을 통해
영원불멸의 목적을 성취하시려고
하나님은 신비한 방법으로 역사하십니다.
