Flowing Peace

" Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
( John 14:27 )
“I’m not surprised you lead retreats,” said an acquaintance in my exercise class. “You have a good aura.” I was jolted but pleased by her comment, because I realized that what she saw as an “aura” in me, I understood to be the peace of Christ. As we follow Jesus, He gives us the peace that transcends understanding (Phil.4:7) and radiates from within—though we may not even be aware of it.
Jesus promised His followers this peace when, after their last supper together, He prepared them for His death and resurrection. He told them that though they would have trouble in the world, the Father would send them the Spirit of truth to live with them and be in them (John 14:16-17).
The Spirit would teach them, bringing to mind His truths; the Spirit would comfort them, bestowing on them His peace. Though soon they would face trials—including fierce opposition from the religious leaders and seeing Jesus executed—He told them not to be afraid. The Holy Spirit’s presence would never leave them.
Although as God’s children we experience hardship, we too have His Spirit living within and flowing out of us. God’s peace can be His witness to everyone we meet—whether at a local market, at school or work, or in the gym.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thank You for welcoming me into Your circle of love. May I share Your peace with someone in my community today.

John 14:16-27
[16] "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--
[17] "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
[18] "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
[19] "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.
[20] "At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
[21] "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
[22] Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"
[23] Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
[24] "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.
[25] "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.
[26] "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
[27] "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
넘치는 평화
말씀 읽기 : 요한복음 14:16 - 14:27
" 평안을 너희에게 끼치노니 곧 나의 평안을 너희에게 주노라 "
( 요한복음 14:27 )
“당신이 수양회를 인도한다는게 놀랍지는 않아요.”라고 나와 같이 운동하는 사람이 말했습니다. “당신은 그런 분위기가 있으세요 "
내 안에 그리스도의 평강이 있음을 그녀가 내 속에 있는 ‘영적 분위기'로 느낀다는 것을 알기에 나는 그녀의 말에 깜짝 놀라면서도 기뻤습니다.
우리가 주님을 따를 때, 주님은 모든 지각에 뛰어나고 하나님의 평강을 우리에게 주심으로 은연중에 우리 내면에서 빛를 발하게 됩니다 (빌 4:7).
주님은 최후의 만찬 이후 자신의 죽음과 부활을 준비하실 때, 주님을 따르는 자들에게 이 평안을 약속해주셨습니다. 세상에서 고난이 있겠지만, 하나님 아버지께서 그들에게 진리의 영을 보내셔서 그들과 함께, 그들 안에 사실 것이라고 주님이 그들에게 말씀하셨습니다(요 14:16-17).
성령님은 그들 심령에 주님의 진리를 심음으로써 가르치실 것이며, 주님의 평화를 가져다주심으로써 그들에게 평안을 주실 것이었습니다. 비록 그들이 곧 종교 지도자들로부터의 격렬한 반대와 예수님의 죽음 같은 고난을 직면하게 되겠지만, 주님은 두려워하지 말라고 말씀하셨습니다. 성령님이 결코 그들을 떠나지 않을 것이기 때문이었습니다.
비록 하나님의 자녀인 우리가 고난을 당할지라도, 우리 역시 하나님의 성령이 우리 속에 사시며 우리로부터 흘러나옵니다. 하나님의 평강은 동네 시장에서나 학교, 일터, 헬스클럽 등 어디서나 우리가 만나는 모든 사람들에게 하나님의 증인이 될 수 있습니다.
성부, 성자, 성령 하나님, 주님의 사랑 안으로 저를 불러주셔서 감사합니다. 오늘 제 주위의 사람들과 주님의 평강을 나눌 수 있게 해주소서.

요한복음 14:16-27
[16] 내가 아버지께 구하겠으니 그가 또 다른 보혜사를 너희에게 주사 영원토록 너희와 함께 있게 하리니
[17] 그는 진리의 영이라 세상은 능히 그를 받지 못하나니 이는 그를 보지도 못하고 알지도 못함이라 그러나 너희는 그를 아나니 그는 너희와 함께 거하심이요 또 너희 속에 계시겠음이라
[18] 내가 너희를 고아와 같이 버려두지 아니하고 너희에게로 오리라
[19] 조금 있으면 세상은 다시 나를 보지 못할 것이로되 너희는 나를 보리니 이는 내가 살아 있고 너희도 살아 있겠음이라
[20] 그 날에는 내가 아버지 안에, 너희가 내 안에, 내가 너희 안에 있는 것을 너희가 알리라
[21] 나의 계명을 지키는 자라야 나를 사랑하는 자니 나를 사랑하는 자는 내 아버지께 사랑을 받을 것이요 나도 그를 사랑하여 그에게 나를 나타내리라
[22] 가룟인 아닌 유다가 이르되 주여 어찌하여 자기를 우리에게는 나타내시고 세상에는 아니하려 하시나이까
[23] 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 사람이 나를 사랑하면 내 말을 지키리니 내 아버지께서 그를 사랑하실 것이요 우리가 그에게 가서 거처를 그와 함께 하리라
[24] 나를 사랑하지 아니하는 자는 내 말을 지키지 아니하나니 너희가 듣는 말은 내 말이 아니요 나를 보내신 아버지의 말씀이니라
[25] 내가 아직 너희와 함께 있어서 이 말을 너희에게 하였거니와
[26] 보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라
[27] 평안을 너희에게 끼치노니 곧 나의 평안을 너희에게 주노라 내가 너희에게 주는 것은 세상이 주는 것과 같지 아니하니라 너희는 마음에 근심하지도 말고 두려워하지도 말라
