💙 공허함을 채워 주시는 주님

 

 ✝   요한복음 10:1-10

"도둑이 오는 것은 도둑질하고 죽이고 멸망시키려는 것뿐이요 내가 온 것은 양으로 생명을 얻게 하고 더 풍성히 얻게 하려는 것이라" [요한복음 10:10]

심리학자 매들린 레빈은 15세 소녀의 “자해 변장”(자해하는 사람들이 주로 사용하는 긴 소매 티셔츠) 옷이 손을 반쯤 가리고 있는 것을 보았습니다. 그 소녀가 소매를 걷어 올리자, 팔뚝에 면도날로 “공허하다”라고 새긴 글을 보고 레빈은 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 레빈은 마음이 아팠지만, 그 십대 소녀가 절실히 필요했던 도움을 받을 수 있어서 감사했습니다.

어떤 면에서 그 십대 소녀는 “공허하다”는 단어를 마음에 새겨 놓은 많은 사람을 대변하고 있습니다. 요한은 예수님이 공허함을 채우고 생명을 “풍성히” 얻게 하려고 오셨다고 기록했습니다(요한복음 10:10). 하나님은 모든 인간의 마음속에 풍성한 삶에 대한 갈망을 갖게 하셨으며, 사람들이 하나님과의 사랑의 관계를 경험하기를 바라십니다. 그러나 하나님은 또한 “도둑”이 사람이나 일들, 또는 환경을 이용하여 그들의 삶을 파괴하려 할 것이라고 경고하셨습니다(1, 10절). 그들이 생명을 준다고 하는 주장들은 모두 위조이며 가짜일 것입니다. 이와 달리 예수님은 참된 것, 곧 “영생”을 주시며, “아무도 [우리를] [예수님] 손에서 빼앗을 자가 없느니라”(28절)고 약속해 주십니다.

오직 예수님만이 우리의 빈 마음을 생명으로 채울 수 있습니다. 만일 공허함이 느껴진다면 오늘 주님을 부르십시오. 심각한 어려움을 겪고 있다면 경건한 조언을 구하십시오. 오직 그리스도만이 풍성하고 충만한 생명, 곧 주님 안에서 찾을 수 있는 의미로 가득한 생명을 부어 주십니다.

의미 있고 흥미로운 것을 찾는 중에 어떤 것들이 실망스러웠습니까? 예수님은 어떻게 당신의 삶을 풍성하게 만드셨습니까?

<예수님, 내게 주신 충만하고 풍요로운 삶을 생각하며, 주님을 떠나 나를 만족시키는 것으로 돌아가지 않도록 도와주소서.>

1.  내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 문을 통하여 양의 우리에 들어가지 아니하고 다른 데로 넘어가는 자는 절도며 강도요 2.  문으로 들어가는 이는 양의 목자라 3.  문지기는 그를 위하여 문을 열고 양은 그의 음성을 듣나니 그가 자기 양의 이름을 각각 불러 인도하여 내느니라 4.  자기 양을 다 내놓은 후에 앞서 가면 양들이 그의 음성을 아는 고로 따라오되 5.  타인의 음성은 알지 못하는 고로 타인을 따르지 아니하고 도리어 도망하느니라 6.  예수께서 이 비유로 그들에게 말씀하셨으나 그들은 그가 하신 말씀이 무엇인지 알지 못하니라 7.  그러므로 예수께서 다시 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 말하노니 나는 양의 문이라 8.  나보다 먼저 온 자는 다 절도요 강도니 양들이 듣지 아니하였느니라 9.  내가 문이니 누구든지 나로 말미암아 들어가면 구원을 받고 또는 들어가며 나오며 꼴을 얻으리라 10.  도둑이 오는 것은 도둑질하고 죽이고 멸망시키려는 것뿐이요 내가 온 것은 양으로 생명을 얻게 하고 더 풍성히 얻게 하려는 것이라

 

💙 He Fills The Empty

 ✝  John 10:1-10

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." [ JOHN 10:10 ]

Psychologist Madeline Levine noticed the fifteen-year-old girl’s “cutter disguise”-a long sleeve T-shirt pulled halfway over her hand commonly used by people who engage in selfharm. When the young girl pulled back her sleeve, Levine was startled to find that the girl had used a razor to carve “empty” on her forearm. She was saddened, but also grateful the teen was open to receiving the serious help she desperately needed.

The teen in some way represents many people who’ve carved “empty”on their hearts. John wrote that Jesus came to fill the empty and to offer life “to the full” (JOHN 10:10). God placed the desire for a full life in every human being, and He longs for people to experience a loving relationship with Him. But He also warned them that the “thief” would use people, things, and circumstances to attempt to ravage their lives (VV. 1, 10). The claims each made to give life would be counterfeit and an imitation. In contrast, Jesus offers what’s true-“eternal life” and the promise that “no one will snatch [us] out of [His] hand” (V. 28).

Only Jesus can fill the empty spaces in our hearts with life. If you’re feeling empty, call out to Him today. And if you’re experiencing serious struggles, seek out godly counsel. Christ alone provides life that’s abundant and full-life full of meaning found in Him. MARVIN WILLIAMS

<Jesus, as I consider the full and abundant life You’ve provided for me, please help me resist turning from You to things I think will satisfy me.>

1.  "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2.  The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. 3.  The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and     leads them out. 4.  When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know  his voice. 5.  But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a        stranger's voice." 6.  Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them. 7.  Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8.  All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9.  I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
