"The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:6)

Profitable Bible study involves more than just opening to a chapter and reading what's there. Here are six guidelines to help you make the most of your study of the Bible.

1. Set aside a regular time. Unless you schedule it, you'll neglect it.

2. Before you start reading, ask God for help and understanding.

3. Carefully think about what you are reading. The treasures of the Bible seldom lie like pebbles on the surface. To mine the gold, you have to dig.

4. Before you decide what a passage means to you, try to understand what the author was saying to the original readers.

5. Write down at least one truth or principle you can put into practice.

6. Don't get discouraged. Some parts of the Bible are difficult to understand, but there's much that you can understand. And if you apply what you've learned, it will revolutionize your life.

Now read today's passage from Proverbs 2 again, keeping these principles in mind. Then use this method whenever you study God's Word. If you do, you will begin to discover the treasures of the Bible.

“대저 여호와는 지혜를 주시며 지식과 명철을 그 입에서 내심이며” (잠언 2:6)

● 말씀을 생각하며 ●
성경 공부의 유익은 단지 성경 구절을 찾아 쓰인 대로 읽는 것만으로는 되지 않습니다. 성경 공부를 하는데 도움이 되는 가장 좋은 방법 여섯가지가 여기 있습니다.

1. 일정한 시간을 따로 정해 놓으십시오. 계획을 세우지 않으면 소홀히 하게 됩니다.

2. 읽기를 시작하기 전에 하나님께 이해와 도움을 간구하십시오.

3. 읽는 것을 가지고 깊이 생각해 보십시오. 성경에 있는 보물들은 자갈처럼 지면에 깔려있지 않습니다. 금을 캐려면 땅을 파야 합니다.

4. 그 성경 구절이 당신에게 주는 의미에 대해 결론짓기 전에 먼저 저자가 당시의 독자들에게 무엇을 말하려 했는지를 이해하는데 힘쓰십시오.

5. 당신이 실천할 수 있는 진리나 원칙을 적어도 한가지를 적어 보십시오.

6. 낙심하지 마십시오. 성경에는 이해하기 어려운 부분이 있으나 이해할 수 있는 부분도 많습니다. 그리고 배운 것을 실천으로 옮길 때 당신의 삶에 변혁이 일어날 것입니다.

이제 이런 원칙들을 생각하면서 오늘의 말씀 잠언 2장을 읽어보십시오. 그리고 성경 말씀을 공부할 때마다 이 방법을 사용해 보십시오. 그러면 성경의 보물들을 발견하기 시작할 것입니다.
