Will You Tell Them? 

"Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
(John 11:26)

John, a friend of mine, was once addicted to drugs. Several times he nearly died. He was a broken man when he entered the Christian rehabilitation program that my husband and I established. By the end of the program, John had become a Christian.

One day as John strolled along a busy street, he began to see the bustling shoppers as God sees them, dying people. He had learned from God's Word that those who die without Christ will spend eternity separated from Him. With deep concern, John thought, These people don't have to die!

We all need to see people as God sees them. But that revelation also brings responsibility. Solomon pleaded, "Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter" (Proverbs 24:11). He also warned that once our eyes are opened we can't pretend we don't know what to do.
God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act (v.12).

Think of people you know who are without Christ. They don't have to die without Him! Jesus said, "Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die" (John 11:26).
Will you tell them this good news?

"무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니" (요한복음 11:26)

● 말씀을 생각하며 ●
내 친구 존은 한 때 마약에 중독되어 있었다. 거의 죽을 뻔한 적도 여러번 있었다. 내 남편과 내가 설립한 기독교 재활 프로그램에 들어 왔을 때 그는 완전히 망가진 사람이었다. 하지만 그 치료 프로그램을 마칠 때 즈음 존은 그리스도인이 되어 있었다.

어느 날 존은 복잡한 거리를 걸어가던 중 분주하게 물건을 사는 사람들을 마치 하나님이 그들을 보시듯 죽어가는 사람들로 보기 시작했다. 그는 주님을 영접하지 못하고 죽는 사람들은 영원히 하나님으로부터 떨어져 지내야 한다는 것을 하나님의 말씀으로부터 배웠던 것이다. 존은 깊이 근심하며 생각했다. '이 사람들은 죽을 필요가 없다!'

우리는 모두 하나님이 사람들을 보시듯 그들을 바라 보아야 한다. 그러나 그 사실을 알게 되면 책임이 따른다.
솔로몬은 "너는 사망으로 끌려가는 자를 건져주며 살육을 당하게 된 자를 구원하지 아니하려고 하지말라" (잠 24:11)고 요청했다. 또한 그는 일단 우리의 눈이 열리면 우리가 무엇을 해야 하는지를 모르는 척 할 수 없다고 경고하였다. 우리 마음을 저울질하시고 우리 영혼을 지키시는 하나님은 우리가 그분을 안다는 것을 아시고 우리에게 행동하도록 책임을 지우신다(12절).

당신이 아는 사람들 중에 그리스도를 모르는 사람들을 생각해 보라. 그들은 예수님을 모른채 죽지 않아야 된다!
예수님은 "무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니" (요 11:26)라고 말씀하셨다. 이 기쁜 소식을 그들에게 전해야 하지 않겠는가?

● 오늘의 묵상 ●
하나님의 진노 아래 사는 사람들을
우리가 진정으로 아낀다면
그들이 죽음의 길에서 벗어나도록
반드시 그들과 복음을 나누어야 한다.
