 고요한 가운데 느끼는 경외감

♣ 말씀 묵상 : 시편 104:10 - 104:24 

"여호와여 주께서 하신 일이 어찌 그리 많은지요 주께서 지혜로 그들을 다 지으셨으니 주께서 지으신 것들이 땅에 가득하니이다." (시편 104:24 )

나는 생활이 정신없이 바삐 돌아가는 것을 자주 느낀다. 

한 약속이 끝나면 그다음 약속으로 서둘러 가고, 그러는 와중에 받은 전화에 답신을 하고 끝도 없이 해야 할 일들을 목록에 표시해간다. 

어느 일요일, 완전히 녹초가 되어 뒷마당 나무에 매어놓은 그물침대 (해먹)에 쓰러져 누웠다.

전화기는 아이들과 남편이 있는 집 안에 있었다. 

처음에는 잠깐 동안만 앉아 있으려고 했는데 방해 받지 않는 고요함 속에 나를 더 오래 붙잡아두려는 것들이 눈에 띄기 시작했다. 

그물 침대가 부드럽게 움직이며 내는 삐걱거리는 소리며 근처 라벤더 꽃을 맴도는 벌들의 윙윙대는 소리, 머리 위에서 펄럭거리는 새의 날개짓 소리가 들렸다. 하늘은 눈이 부시게 푸르렀고 구름이 바람에 실려 움직이고 있었다. 

나는 하나님께서 만드신 모든 것들에 감동이 되어 눈물이 흘러내렸다. 

눈에 보이고 귀에 들리는 여러 경이로운 것들을 다 받아들일 수 있게 천천히 시간을 가지고 하나님의 창조의 권능에 감사하며 경배 드리고 싶은 마음이 솟아났다. 

시편 104편의 기자도 하나님이 손으로 만드신 작품들을 보고 겸손하게 이렇게 고백했습니다. “주께서 하시는 일의 결실이 땅을 만족시켜 주는도다”(13절).

바쁜 생활 가운데서도 고요한 순간을 가져보면 하나님의 창조의 능력을 느낄 수 있습니다! 하나님이 만드신 높은 산과 새들을 위한 나뭇가지 등, 우리 주위에는 하나님의 능력과 다정함을 보여주는 것들로 가득합니다. 

"이 모든 것을 주님께서 지혜로 만드셨습니다”(24절, 새번역).

주님, 

주님의 창조가 참으로 놀랍습니다. 

무한한 능력으로 모든 만물을지으시고, 주께서 지어 두신 아름다운 것들을 누리게 하시니

주님이 지으신 세계를 보게하시고 고요한 순간에 주님을 경배하게 하소서.

How many are your works, LORD! in wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.(Psalms 104:24)

My life often feels frenzied and hectic. I hurry from one appointment to the next, returning phone calls and checking items off my seemingly infinite to-do list while on my way. Out of sheer exhaustion one

Sunday, I collapsed into the hammock in our backyard. My phone was inside, as were my children and husband. 

At first I planned to sit for just a moment or two, but in the undistracted stillness, I began to notice things that invited me to linger longer. I could hear the creak of the hammock swinging gently, the buzz of a bee in the nearby lavender, and the flap of a bird’s wings overhead. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the clouds moved on the wind.

I found myself moved to tears in response to all God had made. When I slowed long enough to take in the many won- derful things within my eyesight and earshot, I was stirred to worship in gratitude for God’s creative power. 

The writer of Psalm 104 was equally humbled by the work of God’s hands, noting “you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor” (V . 13 NLT).

In the midst of a harried life, a quiet moment can remind us of God’s creative might! He surrounds us with evidence of His power and tenderness; He made both the high mountains and branches for birds. “In wisdom [He] made them all” (V . 24).

Lord, Your creation amazes me. You made all things through Your limitless power, inviting us to enjoy the beauty You’ve surrounded us with. Help me to notice Your works and worship You in quiet moments.
