 말씀을 전하는 사자

♣ 말씀 묵상/ 말라기 3:1 - 3:5

"내가 내 사자를 보내리 니 그가 내 앞에서 길을 준비할 것이요 " (말라기 3:1)

“당신에게 온 메시지가 있어요.” 내가 학회에 참석하고 있을 때 한 여직원이 쪽지를 건네주었습니다. 순간 좋은 소식인지 나쁜 소식인지 궁금했는데, “너한테 조카가 생겼어!”라는 쪽지를 보고 기뻐할 수 있었습니다. 보통 메시지를 받으면 좋은 소식이거나 나쁜 소식, 아니면 우리가 할 일을 전하는 내용일 것입니다. 

구약 시대에 하나님은 선지자들을 통하여 백성들에게 소망이나 심판에 관한 메시지를 전달하셨습니다. 

그러나 자세히 들여다보면, 하나님은 심판의 말씀조차도 회개와 치유, 그리고 회복에 이르도록 의도한 것임을 알 수 있습니다. 

말라기 3장에서 주님이 그의 길을 예비할 사자를 보내겠다고 약속하실 때도 소망과 심판에 관한 두 가지 메시지가 함께 들어있었습니다. 

세례 요한은 진정한 사자, 곧 하나님의 약속을 이루실 “언약의 사자”(말라기 3:1)이신 예수님이 오시는 것을 선포하면서(마태복음 3:11 참조) 그 사자는 “금을 연단하는 자의 불과 표백하는 자의 잿물과 같이”(2절) 행하실 것이며, 그것은 예수님이 말씀을 믿는 자들의 영혼을 깨끗이 씻어주실 것이기 때문이라고 하였습니다. 

하나님은 그의 백성들이 행복하게 살기를 바라는 사랑의 마음으로 그들을 정결케 하시려고 말씀을 보내셨습니다. 하나님의 메시지는 사랑과 소망, 그리고 자유에 관한 것입니다. 하나님은 그분의 아들을 우리 언어를 말하는 사자로 보내셨는데, 때로는 징벌의 메시지도 있지만 언제나 희망의 메시지를 담고 있습니다. 그래서 우리는 그분의 메시지를 신뢰할 수 있습니다. 

예수님 주님의 메시지를 이해하고 그에 따라 살아가게 도와주소서.

 The Messenger

♣ Read/ Malachi 3:1 - 3:5 

" I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me." ( Malachi 3:1 )

"I have a message for you!” A woman working at the conference I was attending handed me a piece of paper, and I wondered if I should be nervous or excited. But when I read, “You have a nephew!” I knew I could rejoice.

Messages can bring good news, bad news, or words that challenge. 

In the Old Testament, God used His prophets to communicate messages of hope or judgment. 

But when we look closely, we see that even His words of judgment were intended to lead to repentance, healing, and restoration.

Both types of messages appear in Malachi 3 when the Lord promised to send a messenger who would prepare the way for Him. John the Baptist announced the coming of the true Messenger, Jesus (SEE MATTHEW 3:11)—“the messenger of the covenant” (MALACHI 3:1) who will fulfill God’s promises. But He will act “like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap” (V . 2), for He will purify those who believe in His word. The Lord sent His word to cleanse His people because of His loving concern for their well-being.

God’s message is one of love, hope, and freedom. He sent His Son to be a messenger who speaks our language—sometimes with messages of correction, but always those of hope. We can trust His message. 

Lord Jesus Christ, help me not only to understand Your message but to live it.
