 Are You Thirsty Again?

"Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink." (John 7:37)

Household sponges are amazingly versatile. We use them to wash dishes, mop floors, bathe children, and clean cars. What makes them so useful is that they can absorb and release liquid over and over again. There's a spiritual principle here, expressed by author Andrew Murray: "Wherever there is life, there is a continual interchange of taking in and giving out. . . . The one depends on the other the giving out ever increases the power of taking in. . . . It is only in the emptiness that comes from the parting with what we have, that the divine fullness can flow in."Jesus invited thirsty people to come to Him and drink (John 7:37). First and foremost, He was speaking to people who needed to put their faith in Him, allowing His Spirit to fill them with the joy of salvation.In another sense, when you live for Christ and serve Him, you will recognize the continual need for His Spirit to fill you so
He can work in and through you. Perhaps you are experiencing a heart-wringing trial and you feel dry and thirsty today. Imagine a dry sponge in your hand, ready to absorb more water. Let it teach you that only those who recognize their need for living water will find their thirst satisfied by Christ.

 다시 목마르십니까?

“…예수께서 서서 외쳐 가라사대 누구든지 목마르거 든 내게로 와서 마시라” (요한복음 7:37)

● 말씀을 생각하며 ●
가정에서 사용하는 스폰지는 용도가 놀라울 정도로 다양합니다. 스폰지를 가지고 설겆이를 하거나 마루 바닥을 닦거나 아이들을 목욕시키고 차를 닦기도 합니다. 스폰지가 이처럼 다양한 용도로 쓰일 수 있는 것은 거듭하여 물을 빨아들였다 내놨다 할 수 있기 때문입니다.여기서 우리는 어떤 영적 원리를 발견할 수 있습니다. 앤드류 머레이는 그 원리를 다음과 같이 표현하였습니다. “삶이 존재하는 곳에는 어디에나 받아들이고 내놓고 하는 일이 계속 일어난다… 받아들이고 내놓고 하는 일은 상호 의존하는 관계이기 때문에 많이 내어 줄수록 많이 받아들일 수 있게 된다. 우리가 가진 것들을 내어주어 마음이 비어있을 때에만 하나님이 베풀어주시는 충만함이 들어올 수 있다.”  예수님은 목마른 사람들에게 그에게로 와서 마시라고 초대했습니다(요 7:37). 예수님은 누구보다도 주님을 믿어야 할 사람들에게 말씀하심으로써 성령께서 그들을 구원의 기쁨으로 채우시게 하셨습니다. 다시 말해서 그리스도를 위해 살며 그를 섬길 때 당신은 언제나 성령이 당신 안에 충만함으로써 그분이 당신 안에서 또 당신을 통해서 역사하셔야 한다는 것을 깨닫게 될 것입니다. 혹시 당신은 지금 가슴을 죄는 시련 속에서 목말라 하고 있지 않습니까? 손에 쥐고 있는 스폰지가 바짝 말라 물을 흠뻑 빨아들일 준비가 되어 있는 모습을 상상해 보십시오. 생수의 필요를 느끼는 사람들만이 그리스도로 갈증을 해소할 수 있다는 것을 여기서 교훈으로 배울 수 있습니다.

<하나님을 찾는 갈급함은 생명수되신 그리스도로만 해소될 수 있습니다.>
