 What Are You Looking For?

"A woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil." (Mark 14:3)

"Stop! There's a good pair of shoes! Slow down, you just passed a hammer! Look at that jacket in the ditch!" As the car was speeding down the highway at 70 miles an hour, these were the exclamations of a hitchhiker to the driver who had just picked him up. After several hours of similar comments, the driver reached two conclusions:
1.The hitchhiker's life consisted mainly of things he found by the side of the road.
2. All of us see what we're looking for. As we go through life, the focus of our eyes reveals the desire of our hearts. During the week before Jesus was crucified, the chief priests and scribes were looking for any excuse to arrest and kill Him (Mark 14:1). Judas was looking for a convenient way to betray Jesus (v.11). A woman whom we know to be Mary of Bethany was looking for a way to show her love to the Lord (John 12:1-3). And they all found the opportunities they were seeking.
Our Bible reading today calls us to focus on Christ and His great passion that caused Him to die for our sins. Like Mary, may we have hearts that are always looking for opportunities to say to our Savior, "I love You."

 무엇을 찾고 있나요?

“한 여자가 매우 값진 향유 한 옥합을 가지고 와서” (마가복음 14:3)

● 말씀을 묵상하며 ●
“차 좀 세워 보세요! 저기 멀쩡한 신발이 있어요! 천천히 좀 가세요. 방금 망치가 있었어요! 저기 도랑 안에 옷 좀 보세요!” 이 말들은 지금 막 남의 차를 세워서 빌려 탄 사람이 시속 110킬로미터가 넘는 속도로 고속도로를 달리는 차안에서 자기를 태워준 운전자에게 외친 말이었습니다. 이런 말들을 몇 시간 동안 듣고 있던 운전자는 두가지 결론을 얻게 되었습니다.

1. 차를 빌려 탄 이 사람은 주로 길가에서 주운 물건들로 살아가는 사람이다.
2. 우리들 모두의 눈에는 열심히 찾는 것만 보인다. 우리가 인생을 살아갈 때에 우리 마음이 있는 곳에 눈이 간다.

예수님이 십자가에 못 박히시기 전 한 주일 동안 대제사장들과 서기관들은 예수님을 체포하여 죽일 구실을 찾았습니다 (막 14:1). 가롯 유다는 예수님을 배신 할 적당한 기회를 찾았습니다 (11절). 베다니에 사는 마리아라는 이름의 여인은 주님께 자신의 사랑을 보여드릴 방법을 찾았습니다 (요 12:1-3). 그리하여 그들은 마침내 모두가 각자 찾던 기회들을 얻었습니다.
오늘의 말씀은 우리의 초점을 그리스도에게, 그리고 우리의 죄 때문에 돌아가신 그리스도의 큰 사랑에 맞추라고 합니다. 마리아차럼 우리도 주님께 “주님 사랑해요”라고 말할 수 있는 기회를 항상 찾는 마음을 갖게 되길 바랍니다.

● 오늘의 묵상 ●
하나님 아버지의 사랑을 알기 원하면 독생자 예수 그리스도를 통해 하나님께 나아오십시오. 하나님께선 당신의 죄를 용서하시고 당신의 영혼을 구하 실 것이요 당신은 이 신실하신 분을 영원히 사랑하게 될 것입니다.
