Read: Mark 5:21-34

" The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. "

My sister and I were looking forward to our holiday in Taiwan. We had purchased our plane tickets and booked our hotel rooms. But 2 weeks before the trip, my sister learned she had to stay at home in Singapore to handle an emergency. We were disappointed that our plans were interrupted.

Jesus’ disciples were accompanying Him on an urgent mission when their trip was interrupted (Mark 5:21-42).
The daughter of Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, was dying. Time was of the essence, and Jesus was on His way to their home. Then, suddenly, Jesus stopped and said, “Who touched My clothes?”(v.30).

The disciples seemed irritated by this and said, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”(v.31). But Jesus saw it as an opportunity to minister to a suffering woman. Her illness had made her ceremonially unclean and unable to participate in community life for 12 years! (see Lev.15:25-27).

While Jesus was talking to this woman, Jairus’ daughter died. It was too late—or so it seemed. But the delay allowed Jairus to experience an even deeper knowledge of Jesus and His power—even power over death!

본문: 마가복음5장 21-34절

● 말씀을 생각하며 ●

내 누이와 나는 대만에서 보내기로 한 휴가를 고대하고 있었습니다. 비행기 표도 사놓았고 호텔도 예약해놓았습니다. 그런데 여행 2주 전, 예상치 못한 급한 사정으로 내 누이가 싱가포르 집에 머물러 있어야 한다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 우리는 휴가 계획이 방해를 받게 되어 실망했습니다.

예수님의 제자들도 어떤 급한 일로 예수님과 동행하고 있었을 때, 갑자기 그들의 일정이 방해를 받게 되었습니다
(막 5:21-42). 회당장 야이로의 딸이 죽어가고 있어서, 시간을 다투는 일이라 예수님이 야이로의 집으로 가시던 중이었습니다. 그런데 갑자기 예수님이 멈추시고 “누가 내 옷에 손을 대었느냐”(30절)라고 말씀하셨습니다.

제자들은 이 질문이 좀 거슬린듯 “무리가 에워싸 미는 것을 보시며 누가 내게 손을 대었느냐 물으시나이까”(31절)라고 말했습니다. 그러나 예수님은 이 일을 고통 중에 있는 여인을 돌볼 기회로 여기셨습니다. 그 여인은 공식적으로 부정하게 여겨졌던 병으로 인해 12년 동안이나 공동체 생활에 참여할 수 없었던 것입니다(레 15:25-27 참조).

예수님이 이 여인에게 말씀하시는 동안 야이로의 딸이 죽었습니다. 너무 늦었습니다, 아니 그렇게 보였습니다. 그러나 그렇게 지체된 것 때문에 야이로는 예수님에 대해, 그리고 죽음도 능가하는 주님의 능력에 대해 더 깊이 알게 되는 체험을 하게 되었습니다!

때로는 우리에게 실망을 주는 일이 하나님의 약속이 될 수도 있습니다.

실망스러움은 곧 하나님의 약속,
좋은 것을 결코 감추어두지 않으십니다
거절하신 것들을 통해 우리는 종종
말할 수 없는 주님의 사랑의 보화들을 발견하게 됩니다.
